Little Miss SCF

On October 3, 2020, the new SCF royalty was crowned.  It was just the big girls this time and the little girls will be another time. We had to hold the pageant outside and it was pretty chilly. It was bittersweet to see the year end, especially since they lost out on a lot of the year mostly due to Covid

Here are some pictures from the pageant.  Per Hannah’s request, Danielle escorted her with me for her final walk. Danielle had gotten masks with hearts on them in honor of Mark and we wore those. It was very sweet. I also gave the goodbye speech on behalf of the Little Miss royalty and their families

We will definitely miss these times. Fun memories

September 2020–Third Grade

This was the month that would tell so much. I think everyone was scared and nervous. I think everyone half expected the schools to close because of Covid. But the first month went very well! No cases of Covid that we know of

Definitely different though. All the kids have to wear masks all day except for at lunch, recess and Phy Ed. They can’t associate with anyone except their own class. When they have recess they have to be in certain “sections” and away from all the other classes. Hannah said it was tough as she would see her friends over across the field but all she could do was wave :(. They would eat their lunch in the classroom sometimes and have to have folders up around their lunch tray or lunch.

Definitely different times.

Here are some things she has done so far:

Spelling:
Every week she has a spelling test with 25 words. She has to practice them every night. So far she has done well on her tests:https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1_T2qDBIg_HiNV8NaLqWSfrOqjfV6noSuhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1BjaH9ti0JjGF0GzlSPEi-2rwKSiZ77Zmhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1XFw0tKp_PKqh6QxttQUT9RnB_a7Es_1v

Math facts:
They are tested on math facts for addition and subtraction.  They are given 5 minutes to see how many they can get done. The expectation for third grade is 90 of each. Hannah isn’t quite there but we are working on it. She practices her math facts every night. She’s improving and that’s the main thing https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1MeORXI7aGiQ78VeU8yPsiFbnPH-DrhZKhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=13pCaQIzKdQaJ-ltVD0HKO7yxP-3Zz64Ohttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1lzm4pSajPttjH9DnklvSByYC9qZSz5pchttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1VtDu36NA0bDOtSAcVjyRTJg-mugHKgzq

Even our cats helped Hannah with math facts

Reading and Spelling:
Lots and lots of reading and spelling. It is required that she read 20 minutes every night. She has been writing a lot and reading at school https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1pYKLzDik56NPk88KfM5azltkHgn1maNPhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1Vx_czs6x7-6pcIV9JQ7DKsN4NWpsJ1kPhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1y1k7YZoHm3dw-of4qzj1R1sttPjyrJ-Khttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1IU_-7uTKzhIar3X7xOMaAoyszgMC3Z63https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=18xQAvXOFeKwMlarg-2lgJ_LYo1BcfDk7https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1OivYcZ-LswIek-2-EMrfLF0gLZtLZjGIhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1Adbs9wjVnjQMtbYdGgwZMwKzB8PbXq8rhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1MsAHC4W0sCoHYb7srFw69OiJ4rGbsqCRhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1thlxvMc5E55MUDD9i5FDMbUGzqI7QFg0https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1YUmIJooXsHjky4HVG_X7sxmjIluDTquK

Social Studies:
They have been learning about the 7 continents and oceans.  They had a test on it after doing a project and studying them and she got 100% on her test https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1AsJVt9PhC7pFOumJGylC7BnohDcUdYp4https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1XJFSiwVnyvnVhBjc8zEhMp-bfi6TveKohttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1BFrlD0O-SJm2aQkystC9lv5_tIbKRYtA

The principal was excited that she shared with her https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1n-YKHbHMcz-jFMDcAr6a073bM7WxNIeg Hannah’s teacher gave her a book and wrote this in her book.

Hannah also got a new hearing aid this month. She had been having trouble hearing for awhile and sometimes loud noises really hurt her ears.  So far the hearing aid seems to be making things better for herhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1_6xhcplxQ0dJ_ACCHJXdu8nD5_TyT0wLhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1cSNjU8BLDL-0NXyK4AFwXcpjT03C-YDT
