Kindergarten---week 7

On Monday Hannah had a field trip to the Interstate Park. I had taken off work in hopes that I could go but there wasn't enough room for me. :( I was bummed but hoping to go on another one in the future! A friend was nice to share a picture :)

They learned about nocturnal animals this week:

Of course she had to make this tree into a Christmas tree :)

Working on sight words and sounding out words:

They checked her teeth and she passed!:

It was also the week of parent/teacher conferences. Those things always freak me out a bit, I must admit. But we got an excellent report. The teacher had no concerns about Hannah at all. Said she's doing great. She's a leader but also very compassionate. Whew! :)

The kids made a folder for the papers for us and this was Hannah's folder:

She drew "rain" on the front. Then put a rainbow in the middle with what I assume says "I see a blue flower". Then on the back she wrote Mommy, Daddy and Hannah. Of course she had her hearts on there too. :) Love her hearts.

Here are the reports we received from the conferences and how well Hannah is doing. I'm so very proud of her!!

Kindergarten---week 6

One of the "sight" words Hannah has been learning about has been "I can see". She brought home her "I can see fall" book:

Her classroom read the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?". After reading that book they made their own book.....awww! Hannah was able to bring the book home this week and show us! Here she is showing her pages of the book (her excitement of helping me out and holding the book up so I could take pictures really went down as more pictures were taken :)):

Next week is a field trip to the Interstate Park.....and conference time! Oh I hope it goes okay. :)

Mark's faith

The other day I received a text from one of my sisters in Christ: "How is Mark's faith in all this? It's so hard".

I took a moment to answer that as I really thought about it. I didn't want to lie. I didn't want to mislead and wanted to be honest.

I had tears in my eyes as I texted back: "His faith is good. I've always been so proud of how he handles everything. Never gets mad at God, uses times when he can't sleep to pray. I admire him so much".

In the last 20 years that I've known Mark, I've never once heard him say he was angry at God. Very rarely he will ask "Why Me?", but in those 20 years I can count on my hand the number of times he has gotten to that point. He seldom complains.

Truthfully, I can't say I'm like that all the time. Through our struggles, I hate to admit, I have gotten angry at God. I know---not something I like to admit but it's true. Sometimes it seems like we've struggled and struggled and nothing can go right.

But it's Mark's peace and attitude that gives me peace. Now when we hit a road block or some bad news, I pray Okay God, use me. Use this for your glory. What do you want me to do with this and how can it bring You glory?

I always think of some way.

I've never really thought about how Mark's faith is throughout all his struggles until I was directly asked.

It brings me so much joy to be able to confidently say "His faith is good".

He's not perfect. He gets frustrated. He gets angry. He hurts. He doesn't understand sometimes.

But he knows God is good and He loves him.

Because of the way Mark handles things, I've learned to handle it the right way.

We could all learn something from Mark. He makes me so proud.

"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11

Kindergarten--week 5

This week, Hannah learned about the letter "A":

I did question why she had 2 papers of the same and wanted to make sure she didn't take anyone else's but she insisted she did both of them. My overachiever little girl. :)

She had an "Apple" book. Each page was a different color of apple that she had to color. She only did the first two pages as she "ran out of time"....and yet still found time to draw the picture of the apple on the back. :)
